Sat class prep

Okay so i didnt do well on my SAT, 1520, and i studied the blue book. I am now curious that about the prices of the classes. I understand that some are ridiculously expensive, but can someone tell me the prices of the following courses and if you could give me other ways to prep.

Testmasters
Kaplan
C2 Education
Princeton Review
Sylvan

And any others if you can think of them.

Thank you so very much.

I’m trying to learn as many words as possible, so I print this out:
[Hot Words for the SAT](http://webserver.nccsc.k12.in.us/hsmedia/hot_words_SAT.htm)
Then I wanted to see my weaknesses, so I went here and did all the tests:
[SAT Prep : Practice tests and information for students taking the SAT test](SAT Prep : Practice tests and information for students taking the SAT test | Major Tests)
And then I wanted to see how much I improved so I bought this:
[The Official SAT Study Guide, 2nd edition: The College Board: 9780874478525: Amazon.com: Books](http://www.amazon.com/The-Official-SAT-Study-Guide/dp/0874478529)
And a few weeks later I signed up for a summer Kaplan prep class for $700 minus $100 discount

Hah. Look at stevensmith’s post history. To quote someone else: “what a set-up!”

I would stay away from most of the above courses you mentioned. I’m a private tutor as well, and I have had dozens of parents come to me asking for my help because their children’s scores did not improve after they spent hundreds/thousands of dollars.

I would recommend smaller companies, so that you have the ability to meet and vet their instructors. Too often, people go into choosing their test prep blindly, and the unfortunate thing is that people are too trusting of companies and their misleading claims.

what are some smaller companies???

That depends on where you are?

Would you mind sharing the closest major metropolitan city to where you are?

Houston, TX

You may want to try asking seniors who have just been through the process. Also, some schools keep a list: check with the guidance dept and the parents association, either at your school or at other local, academically focused schools.
