Have you considered taking the ACT? It tests knowledge in a different way than the SAT, and is equally accepted. You also have the ability to pick and choose what ACT scores are sent to the college (if you have more than one testing). My son prefers the ACT format over the SAT format because there isn't any jumping back and forth between subjects.

If you haven't cheated throughout hs, and you've done well in all those hard classes and ecs, I think the ACT is more your style.

You might also have just been really nervous that it was "THE" SAT, or whatever. Try to take some practice tests from the Blue Book-and analyze your answers...are you making dumb mistakes?? If it's just a LOT of stupid mistakes, you can easily raise it 400+ points

no i have not cheated, i never cheat. And colleges are going to see my 1400 correct? god im doomed, and a matter of fact, yes i was very nervous while taking the sat, i went in stone cold with no prior preparation. But i purchased barron's 2400 sat prep book and ive noticed that as i've been doing there practice problems i always have a consistency of getting questions wrong due to lack of vocabulary knowledge.

Colleges will see your SAT scores if you send any SAT or SAT2 scores to them. Vocabulary is always something you can improve. However, you should do yourself a favor and look at the ACT.

why look at ACT? whats the difference?

The SAT is a reasoning test while the ACT is knowledge based. The ACT is somewhat shorter than the SAT. The ACT does not penalize for wrong answers. The ACT tests in four sections (plus an optional writing section), the SAT goes back and forth between the three sections. The ACT has score reporting choice. Some colleges will accept the ACT instead of the SAT and SAT subject tests.

well we're kind of in the same situation. I have a 4.57 GPA but got a 1650. The problem is that we didn't study. Take a lot of practice tests and you will improve.

OP, I think your biggest problem was "taking it cold"...you can bring it up if you're a hard worker
