Does anyone have any beneficial tips for these sections of the SAT exam? They seem to be the most problematic for me so any help would be greatly appreciated.

(The “Critical Writing” section is just called Writing.)

I will be releasing an SAT and admissions guide in the somewhat near future, so that should help you if you can wait until after the June date.

Any idea when you’ll have that done silverturtle? I am excited for it.

^ Probably around the end of next week, but I don’t want to set any deadlines.

Would this guide have any tips? Oh yeah, sorry. I meant Writing section.

Well can you please give me some tips? My exam is soon approaching and I really need a good score! Thanks.

Yes, it will. In the meantime, going through this may help you on the Writing section.

Any chance you could possibly have it out before the June 5 test date? Just curious. It might be a huge help for my CR.

I would also like this before the June 5th test if possible.

Can someone help me? I wanna know if cramming a long list of vocabulary helps to raise the score in the Critical Reading section and also if it does, what is the best way to remember it all. Thanks everyone.

If you have good retention, cramming vocabulary could work. The most effective way to learn vocabulary is to write down any words that you don’t know onto flash cards and then just studying those.

I’ll try to speed up my progress on the guide, but I do not expect it to be done before June 5th. However, if you guys want, I can PM you the CR section draft when I finish it (that should be by the end of this weekend).

I’d love that. My entire focus for the last month has been CR. That’s all I really care to improve on.

Is the Barrons’ Vocabulary 3500 list any good? This is what I’m cramming from now. I really need to improve my score!

^lol don’t go that route. Do direct hits, which has like 500 words and it’s defintitely crammable.

Um…What are direct hits? Is it useful? If I learn this Direct Hits thing, I am best prepared for the tough words in the SAT

I just did some research on the book. Seems to be well known but it wouldn’t be able to reach me in time for my exams. I guess if I end up repeating, I will make the purchase but I will have to use what I have. Anyways, I still wanna know. Is that vocabulary book really good? Are the words mentioned in the book really repeat in the actual exam?

Try doing some search on this forum. I remember there was a guy who made a thread, and direct hits had at least 50% of the answer to the setence completion questions, multiple times. I think “nuance” popped up many times. It’s pretty helpful.

@silverturtle
That would be much appreciated. I need all the help I can get. I went over CR with a friend who’s excellent at it yesterday, and I’m narrowing down my mistakes, so your help and more practice should help me infinitely.

Jimmy797, can you please forward me the DH list you have. I really need it. Thanks.
