SAT Critical Reading Help!

Ive studied a gamut of vocabulary words, memorized around 500-1000 words, and still going strong. I just need help with the passages, AFTER i get the question wrong, and i see the correct answer I go back and reread the passage and understand why, but I can't seem to get it right on the first try :(

Any suggestions, guides, or tips?

Please comment below, and thanks in advance!

Ugh, it seems everybody has that same problem. On the SAT I got 3 vocab wrong and 10 passage wrong. I’d like to know the answer too.

Depending on the type of passage question, different methods can be utilized. One technique would be to look at the passage as a whole to answer each question; generally, the first & last sentences of each paragraph can greatly help if a person is stuck trying to find the answer. Another technique would be to look at the sentence before & the sentence after of the specified lines of the passage question. The method that helped me was marking each line of the passage by skimming through the passage questions before reading the passage; also, remember to never make inferences outside of the passage & concentrate solely on what is written in the passage text. A more detailed analysis of strategies can be found in Silverturtle’s Guide in the critical reading section. Eventually, after enough practice, there may come a breaking point that will allow you to undertand how the SAT testmakers WANT their questions to be answered.
