SAT Critical Reading thread

Does anyone remember the main reason question about the diary during WWII passage? I think I put down something like ‘trying to get over his feelings’. I don’t think it was right, I thought that passage was sort of hard.

Also what about the pony question on the same passage. I remember him saying “people were sympathizing with the pony because that’s how they felt themselves”, so I put “cared (or affectionate can’t remember the exact word) for the harmless domestic animal”. I feel stupid for putting that though, that had way too much extra info.

Oh jk i put fashion thank god! Hallelujah ! I didnt skip a question!

^omg! i remember that, i either chose that or something about how it related to their own feelings or what not. IDK F IT ALL

they were not affectionate. it said “They felt trapped” or something. they sympathized with the horse b/c it was acting freely and like they would if they werent feeling so trapped. the main purpose i wrote is to “come to terms with the events happening around him” and one of the other questions answers was “the para. shifts from about him to about the war”

i liked the war passage :stuck_out_tongue: only easy one.

@SAT100
i put he was trying to control his emotions or something…
and that pony one was hard… i dont remember what i put but i didnt put that…

@anonymous
agreeed, it was my favorite
and i got all the same answers!

That one makes more sense, I figured mine was wrong as soon as I started thinking about it, after the test ended. I was debating over affectionate and thats how they felt, I can’t believe I didn’t realize how much extra info the answer I picked had. I think I got the main reason one right.

yeah there was one question in the war journal that was tripping me up.

anyone remember the biofuels question about the first paragrah. It was like

the main purpose of the first paragraph is to

introduce an influential individual
suppose that the technology is useful
recall the origins of a movement
forgot the rest

What was the answer to the one about leaves covering the sentences? (war passage)

its not the affectionate one for sure… the people were not compassionate; they merely felt bad for the horse b/c they were able to relate to the horse. the horse was kicking and acting wild b/c it felt confined. like the horse, they too feel trapped and restricted during this war.

i absolutely loved this passage. it actually touched my heart…

leaves covering - cant find the right words to use
@eagles - it was “an engaging anecdote”

I felt more confident on this CR section than in June, but after looking at your answers, I felt like I screwed up. But, I got a 600 in June. Hoping for the same or higher.

it was about being trapped by circumstances, they felt a bit of sympathy because the horse was expressing what they all felt inside.

here are my answers for the war journal

main idea

what was the purpose of the fifth paragraph

shift to the war instead of just his personal life/inner feelings

what does work mean in context

fashion

the people viewed the pony with sympathy because

felt restrained over something they couldn’t control (upcoming war)

I think I got all of those, eagle.

@eagles94 yay xD all my answers match yours I hope they’re right >< lol

Seriously screw the sat lol

but seriously they need to lengthen the time a limit a little bit more. In life its not always necessary to solve things in less than 5 seconds lol.

what did you guys for the question about the judge?

It was one of those fill in the blank, I got like determinations and objective as my answer

it was disparities, inequity. Due to the disparities in the rulings locally, the judge said there was inequity, or something like that.

also, I remember something about curmudgeon and misanthrope. that was correct, right?

wait does anecdote mean short, personal story or just any short story?
