SAT Critical Reading/ Writing Help? =S

Hey Everyone,
If anyone scored high (750+) on Critical Reading or Writing, their help would be really appreciated. Right now, for both, I'm at about a 700 on both, and I really want to improve them to at least 750 each. I also know quite a few people stuck in the lower 700s, but it seems like it's difficult to break away into the higher 700s. How did you do it? Any strategies? changes? new books/resources you used? etc...

Thank You So much for your help! :D
(btw- i'm planning on taking the SAT one more time in September.)

bump…

For sentence completion, it’s all about using context clues. All that about memorizing vocab words? ■■■■■■■■. A decent but not amazing vocabulary + context clue skills = 100% sentence completion. If you’re not very good with context clues, try reading a high-level newspaper like the Wall Street Journal and whenever you come across a word you don’t know, try to fill in the meaning based on the words around it.

For the comprehension parts, ALWAYS read the whole passage before answering questions. That ‘read the questions first’ BS is for people aiming for a 600. Read the passage, then answer some of the easy questions, then go for the heavy questions, since your previous reading mixed with the answers from the easy questions will give you a great understanding of the tone, message, etc that will help greatly with questions about the author’s purpose of that kind of thing.

Thanks! Haha. I know what you mean about the vocab. My friend went to a prep class and came back w/ a box of 3000 vocabulary words. He still missed 4 on vocab and was pretty ****ed that he spent all that time on a section that doesn’t count as much as honing reading comprehension skills.
Yeah, so far I’ve been doing that. Reading first then answering after. Thanks for the reply!
