SAT & DAT 2 HISTORY Scheduling?

I want to take the SAT (again) and the SAT 2 this fall. I’m scheduling the SAT for the next date being Oct. 6th, but I also want to take the SAT2 which has dates for Oct 6th and Nov 3rd. Now the problem is that I want to apply early decision for American, which the deadline is Nov 15th. So as you can see that makes including my SAT 2 grades difficult if I have to take it on the 3rd of November. Is there a way to send in the scores to the college when they come in, even if it is after the deadline?

Have you thought about just applying test-optional?

Will going test optional hinder my chances? What does American think when they see someone going test optional? Or do they actually care more about your academic/ extracurricular background ?

Straight from the AU website:

As long as the rest of your application is strong, then no, applying test-optional will not hinder your chances. They’re not going to think negative of you and they understand that many students feel that their test scores aren’t an accurate representation of their abilities.

Good luck! :)

Is American now requiring SAT 2 exams? If you are applying early decision and American does not require this exam, what difference does it make? Although American has a test optional program, I don’t know how they look at test optional applicants when determining merit aid.

I’m pretty sure that AU doesn’t place a big importance on SAT 2’s. My advice would be to take the SAT 1 and see how you do and than consider Test optional.

You don’t have to rush to do SAT 2; American does not, in fact, expect it.

So, indeed, you want to take the SAT 1 first. When you register for the SAT 2, go ahead and have that score sent to AU also. When they receive it, they will match it up in the file with the rest of your application. No big deal. Admissions offices do that kind of thing all the time. And I think that even though it’ll come in after the ED deadline, it’ll probably be there long before any decision is actually made.

SAT 2’s are not required for American. So I wouldn’t worry about it. If you need them for other schools, then just take the Nov 3 date.
