Many places on the internet recommend that you take one SAT before you take the PSAT. Would it hurt your score record to do this or would the colleges know that you took it before your PSAT, being for example in the 9th or 10th grade?

that's dumb advice, just take the psat in 10th grade for practice, that way nothing is on your record that matters

yeah, you should probably take a practice test from 10 real sats. But I don't think that it's very smart to take the actual exam, because you would only hurt your score records.

Ok, because I was thinking that it really wouldn't help you to take it that early anyway.

Agree with both celebrian25 and vtoodler. Unless, of course, you do take an exam in the ten real SATs book and ace it, but still want to experience the test under the real testing conditions. If this turns out to be the case, i don't think it would be a bad idea at all. I have some friends who have scored 1450 + in 9th grade and even earlier.

I think it's unsual for even a CCer to get 1450+ in 9th grade, maybe you're one of these rare students, but chances are you're not

Save your time and money (and possibly score) by buying books and practicing on your own
