SAT during 10th grade effects

If I make a low sat score during sophomore year but make a high score in junior/senior year, will that low score during my sophomore year affect college decisions? I'm hoping it will only show improvement.

First, check colleges that allow score choice. There are some colleges that require all scores so that score in sophomore year might hurt you. For example, Stanford requires all scores.

Even for schools that require all scores, your sophomore score is not likely to hurt. Most schools would look at your best score, superscoring or not.

If you are concerned about this, then just don’t take the SAT as a sophomore. There’s really no reason to do this. This site is full of kids saying they took it as a freshman or sophomore and were unhappy with the results, or they took it without prepping “just to see”. And this site is also full of kids worrying about what colleges will think of the “bad” scores they got when they were a freshman or sophomore, or when they didn’t prep. Easy solution to all of this: Take the test seriously the first time, prep, and don’t put “bad” test scores on your record. I don’t know where so many people got the idea that they should just walk in unprepared to one of the most important tests they will ever take.

Did you take the PSAT or the actual SAT?

mathyone, I’ve been prepping for the SAT for a while now and it’s my first time and I’m going to keep taking it but I’m just nervous but I know I still have jr year to take as many as I want.
soso2554, I’m going to tale the SAT however I did take the PSAT this year also
