I'd like to score close to an 800. I took the SAT I and received around a 600 on the writing portion. Insight?

You really can’t prepare in the short-term. Just do practice tests and review the questions.

What prep books do you recommend?

I studied McGrawHill. And did the one Blue Book test. Some of Kaplan.

But I think what helped me most was actually having taken the exam before, so I was more familiar with the structure, and also AP Lang and Lit (not saying these two tests are identical to SAT Lit, but I think they require a similar set of skills).

(I got a 800 on both SAT Lit and SAT I W, but I doubt those two were necessarily related)
