Do they care if its first or third person?

Also do they care if you switch back and forth (like i use first person for personal example and 3rd for some historical example)

What do you guys generally write with on SAT essays?

bump 10char

i sometimes use both if i need a personal example. but u should stick to third person when u are not talking about yourself.

iono… the essays that score sixes in the BB are in first person

what is 10char?

^You are not allowed to reply if you don’t have enough characters(letters) in your message. So if someone writes something short like “bump”, 10char is added.

I was actually talking to my english teacher about this the other day. He says that you should use third person until you hit a personal example, which is when you should switch to first person. He said that this demonstrated mastery of the language or something to that effect. I don’t know if it’s exactly true, but it makes some sense.

3rd person is definitely preferable.

Honestly, you should avoid using personal examples (and thus first person) as much as possible. Examples from literature, history, art, philosophy are the best to use.
