SAT Essay/ACT Writing Concordance?

Haven’t been able to find anything online that directly compares the two writing sections, SAT Essay vs. ACT Writing. Can anyone help me convert my scores or direct me to a concordance table for the writing sections?

SAT: 1540 composite, writing 17

ACT: 35 composite, writing 7

Which test should I send to colleges? Should I send both?

Thanks! Any help is appreciated.

for real, though, here it is!: https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/pdf/higher-ed-brief-sat-concordance.pdf
scroll down until you find page 7, table 8

You have excellent scores! Good job and good luck, yo.

I don’t remember there being a % listed for the essay score when my daughter took the SAT last Spring. For this past sitting of the ACT, there should be a % on your complete score report for the 7C. From reports here on CC, a 10 was about a 97% and a 9 was around 90-91%, as best as I can remember.

They are both great scores for the multiple choice sections! Congrats!

@OMPursuit Thanks for your help!! However, I was looking for a specific Essay score to Writing score comparison, as in how my 17 and 7 stack up. I guess there’s nothing available for that, but still, the info on the tables is very useful.

@mamaedefamilia Thank you! I looked at my ACT score report again closely, but wasn’t able to access national percentile rankings. I took it in June 2015, so maybe it’s no longer available since they’ve slightly changed the writing section since. Thanks for your input!

Oh, woops! Apologies @sunrisereader . I’d think the essays are regarded subjectively enough in their own right that there isn’t much to be compared. I’d choose the essay you feel more proud of.

I don’t think there is a concordance for SAT essay vs. ACT essay, but the national cumulative percents for the ACT writing prior to September 2015 can be found here:
