When I started writing my essay I started on the second page and finished on the first. I didn't realize until after so I only got to write like "first page!" "start here!" "sorry please read this page first" on my answer sheet on the edges of the essay.

Has this happened to anyone on here before? Can anyone help me figure out what to do or if I should be worried or not?

Depends on the reader you get. As long as you wrote something on the VERY first page they see, you’ll be fine.

I am a reader. I would have no problem following your directions as long as they were clear and readable. The same goes for insertions and comments written in the margins with arrows, etc. The key is readability.

Thanks, Wood5440! I hope my directions were clear enough. Also, you don’t think another reader would worry and say “Well this kid can’t even follow the directions, I’m gonna give him a bad grade”?

Thanks to you too, MasterYster.

Readers aren’t trying to trap you, or trick you, or punish you. We are all teachers. We want you to do as well as possible. Since the SAT is a test and not a lesson, we can’t really treat your essay as we would if you were in our class. We have to score it and do no more. Still, we are scoring your ability to write, and not neatness or your knowledge of world events or art. We appreciate readable handwriting so we don"t take forever to read a single paper but we are willing to work with you to give you a fair shot at the best score your essay deserves. Don’t believe everything some tutors tell you about us.
