SAT Essay: Personal (BSable) Examples VS Historical Literary Examples?

The most popular way to seems to be the history/literary route, but the Grammatix method supports the personal examples way, and in the BB one of the essays shown with a 12 include two (suspiciously farfetch too, Wedding + Cheating) personal examples. They say that examples don't matter as long as you are clear in your ideas, so personal examples doesn't make a difference.

Thoughts?

You can definitely get a double-digit score using personal examples if they’re well thought out (or well made up).

You can definitely get a double digit score by using personal examples if they are well thought out, or well made up. Make sure you entertain the reader, and make sure you make the essay direct and clear.

I used personal example and a literature example (both made up) and got a 12.

^ I second that. You can get a decent score citing works of literature you haven’t even read if your examples are concrete and explained well.

Or better yet, use two historical / literature examples, both made-up 100%. It can be done beautifully (net me a 11, and I had NO previous readings or preparing examples beforehand due to time constraints, mind you)
