I received a 1460 my first attempt on the SAT and a 8,7,7 on the essay portion.
Is this essay score proportional to my overall score? If I take the SAT again should I try the essay again or should I just accept the previous score?

Hi @North44, as far as I know the SAT essay score is no longer directly “tied” to the numerical (out of 1600) score. You can theoretically get a 1600 and still fail the essay (not recommended!)
Depending on the SAT percentiles of your desired colleges, you may want to retake the test to score higher than 1460 (if you don’t know these percentiles I would highly suggest looking them up, they’re usually available on the internet).
However, congratulations, the 8/7/7 (a 22/24) is an awesome essay score!
