SAT essay related question?

Hello everybody,

My SAT is coming up in a month, and I was seeing videos regarding the essay.

Almost all the videos said that the examples do not need to be factually correct as long as they relate to your thesis.

Also they say personal examples are all right.

How true are these statements?

Absolutely true…If the examples you formulate(many do invent examples) are related to your thesis, then CB has no problem with them. But, don’t try to be too trivial…Sometimes, people can easily understand when you lie by the way you write.

What do you mean by too trivial?

Also, can examples be based from TV shows and stuff
Example - Could I use F.R.I.E.N.D.S if we have to analyse the impact of something on society?

Yes you can use TV shows, novels, politics, history and anything. By trivial I meant something like this : “I fought against carelessness exhibited by government” or “My friend had been on a strike for the prohibition of faulty cosmetics and the entire school supported her”. This kind of things often might work against you.
