Hey, everytime I take the sat I always get a darn 10 on the essay. If I were to get a 12 I believe it would significantly increase my score. I do the basic essay with 2-3 examples, intro and conclusion with a few big words. Idk what I am doing wrong.
Can someone please help me and others out there who want to get a 12 on the essay. Like what outline did you or someone you know who got a 12 use? Thanks!

I usually get nines on practice tests. But on the October test, I finally got a 10. I actually changed my method to 2-3 examples to one specific example. I used SAT words and made sure to prove my point in a coherent way.

I believed this helped get that extra 1 point.

But for a 12, I guess it just comes down to maybe 2 very in-depth examples…and very complex sentences.

i got an 11 this october.

i didn’t use complex sentences that much.
my examples probably stood out.
- grapes of wrath
- zimbabwe’s politics
- korean civil war

I recieved a 12 on the october SAT about compromise

I love philosophy and so I discussed the nature of the topic in the intro paragraph, as I would in conversation. I used mainly complex sentences(as previous posters have said) and some high level vocabulary.

1st paragraph-in depth philosophical examples and logical deductions about the topic
2nd-Cold War (Howard Zinn reference-“War is the health of the state”)
3rd-Buddhist monk civil disobedience in Myanmar

Try not to make it sound rehersed (i.e. literature, history, current event). Don’t force the examples to fit the topic, and above all make sure there is a logical progression in the examples, which allows the paper to flow.

i just got a 12 for the december sat
i dont know how?!?!

the topic was whether or not “acting” is part of everyday life
- hamlet (everyone had to act to hide guilt and/or future motives)
- iran-contra affair (government needs to act toward public to maintain stability and order)
- everyday use (how you suppress your thoughts; your conscience filters them out. like you keep side-comments to yourself; this in a sense is acting because you’re presenting yourself differently than your first instinct)

conclusion: acting is not necessarily hold a derogatory meaning but rather essential to human society because of complex relations amongst us. going along the sense that conscience filters our thoughts and actions, and conscience elevates mankind from rest of animals.

i dont know?

i was a senior taking sat for the second time
my first time was in sophomore year and i got a 7 ):
i took act, and got a 34 and decided not to take sat.
but my parents forced me
i went in without preparation because if i bombed it… it wouldnt have mattered anyways cause i sent in my app.

turns out i got in for my ED
and december sat was a waste

but wow… o.o
i thought 12’s were impossible
O.o

I got 11 on the October SAT on the essay about compromise
Used two of the examples:
1)Treaty of Versailles
2) India Pakistan war over Kashmir

So, I don’t think one necessarily needs three examples. Good two examples are also okay. Trying using 4 or 5 big vocabulary words (5-8 letters) across the essays, and just see how it raises the score significantly. And also write the whole two pages (front and back) to score more than 10. If write less its more likely you will not get more than ten.

Come on, Essay graders have a maximum of 45 sec to look over your essays; they will just glance through it rather than taking a deeper meaning and analyzing it. Don’t stress too much and don’t try to write Ernest Hemingway style. Use transitions and memorize some words that you can insert in any type of essay.

I got an 11 using the Civil War and Missouri Compromise, and how compromise can ultimately lead to more pain and suffering than the initial shock of dealing with the problem.

you people are crazy. i can never get higher than 9’s!

Use solid examples from lit or hist. Personal examples are accepted, but my RocketReview said to avoid them for a high score.

Some of the CollegeBoard examples that scored a 6 are absurd - they’re awful.

I’ve gotten two 11s and a 12. Honestly, my 12 essay was much weaker than my first 11 essay. But then again, with a difference of 1 point, it’s all up in the air.

The essay doesn’t matter THAT much. Atleast for SAT. I got a 770 on the writing section with a 12 on my essay. My friend got a 780 on the writing section with a 8 on his essay. He just answered a bit more MC correctly.
