<p>I don't know how'd the colleges get your essay.</p>
<p>Colleges will get your writing score and essay for the SAT and probably your essay fromt the ACT. If your essay for the college is exceptional, but you got a 400 on the SAT Writing and a 4/12 on the essay , it looks like you had someone else write your essay. If you broke something like 650 and 8 on your writing section and essay for the SAT, colleges probably wont care, and jsut think you need time to edit your papers and time to think of good ideas. Also, if you have poor english grades (Cs and worse) but your essay is really good, it also raises some concerns. Some people have enough money to pay others to write their essays. Colleges know that and if you are a C student in english and bombed your SAT writing section/essay, it seems highly likely that your essay to the college isn't going to be one of the best an adcom has ever seen. </p>
<p>Note: scores were just randomly pulled, but are not that good on anyone's scale. Grades from English class are assuming that most smart kids get Bs and your school does not encourage grade deflation to the point where a majority of students get Cs in most classes.</p>
