I got a 2330 on my essay on May 5th, but only a 7 on my essay. Is this cause for concern, or should will universities look more at the decent 730 writing than the 7 on the essay?

I might be wrong but for now colleges don't look at your writing as much as they do for the CR + Math. Plus, I don't think colleges see your score on the essay.

Also - you got a 2330, you have nothing to worry about. that's a great score, no college will look down upon it.

Why wouldn't colleges see the essay score? I thought they get the whole shebang.

Colleges will see your essay score; it is clearly listed on the score report. They can also view the image of your essay if they want. The score of 7 may or may not hurt you, but you should have little to loose by taking the SAT again to get a better essay score. You have an excellent over all score, and you may do even better on your next try. Even if your overall score drops, getting a higher essay score will only help you.
