<p>I know there's an essay on the SAT and that you can get a maximum score of 12 on it but is the prompt different for everybody or does everybody have to do the same essay? And I've seen people revising their essays here, do you know the essay topic beforehand or you find out once you are taking the actual exam?</p>
<p>you don’t know the topic befirehand.
You will get one prompt only, even though I believe there are 4 different prompts for people at different time zones or something. So you get one only, while people at different timezones get a different one from you.
You have 25 min to write the essay.
