SAT Experts

Dear CC members,

I am an Egyptian student in grade 10 and I took the SAT in May 1 and I scored 1690 (CR 460, M 660, W 570). I am taking the test again in October 2010, so I have about four months of preperation.

I bought the Barron's 24th edition and the BB: second edition.

1) Are the 3600 word in the Barrons good?
2) Do I need another prep books?

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED:

Organized program of studying that I can apply in the four months and that can improve my score to above 2200.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Can anybody help?

i would just recommend getting collegeboard’s blue book and doing all the practice tests. it really helps your score and familiarizes you with the test.

thanks but a lot but do you know anything about the 3500 words in the Barrons and whether they are helpful or not?

no to both

The general consensus is that Direct Hits is the best vocabulary book. There are two editions; the first focuses on “core” vocabulary and the second focuses on the “toughest” vocabulary. There is a total of about 400 words. Search the forum and you’ll see a lot of talk and approval of it.

crazybandit;
yeah I’ve seen a lot of threads about it.
