Is a 2090 SAT (680 CR, 740 M, 670 W) too low for UMich? Or is it about average? I feel like it's going to affect my chances a lot. I took it in October and the 2090 was my highest yet, but I was aiming for 2150 at least.

The middle 50th percentile of this year’s freshmen was 1990-2230, so you’re fine. Even if the average goes up for this year’s class, which I expect it will, you’ll still be within that range.

Not too low

entenduintransit,do you have a cite for your SAT score information? The U Michigan Common Data Set for 2011-12 shows the middle 50th percentile as 1,870 to 2,170. Thanks.

Okay, thanks guys. I was beginning to think maybe I should have submitted my ACT (28 composite) but the SAT is a lot better I guess.

Your scores will put you in the middle 50th percentile, that’s true, but if you’re out of state, being towards the lower end of that range may hurt. At least your lowest score is your writing score; even schools that consider writing scores tend to put less weight on them than on the other 2 sections.

You should be fine with a 1420 (assuming reasonable GPA) on the two sections that really count. I think (and I may be completely off-base) that 1400 is a bit of a magic number for UM.
