SAT French 2016 Prep books

I just did some research for practice tests books for the SAT French exam but I’m having trouble finding any with positive feedback or published in 2015 which will be suitable for the exam in 2016.

There’s the “Cracking the SAT French Subject Test, 15th Edition (College Test Preparation)” by Princeton Review published in 2014 which has no ratings whatsoever on Amazon; then there’s the “Barron’s SAT Subject Test French with Audio CDs, 3rd Edition” from 2013 - the majority of reviewers state that the tests presented in the book are significantly different than the actual SAT; and finally, there’s the “Cracking the SAT French Subject Test, 2013-2014 Edition (College Test Preparation)” from 2013. Users don’t seem satisfied with that one either.

Could you suggest a general guide and/or practice tests book for the exam? I guess I should wait till the 2015-2016 guides come out but I’ll appreciate any feedback on publishers. Am I mistaken or there are no free tests available for foreign languages on Khan Academy?

Thank you!

IMO, foreign languages are one of those subjects where you either know it or you don’t and would not bother spending a lot of time prepping for the test.

Go to the library and borrow *The Official Study Guide for all SAT Subject Tests * to give you a sense of the format of the exam, if you are so inclined. That’s the extent of the effort I would put into it.

Thank you for your response!

I’m indeed interested to know what the exam is like and practice to see if I’ll manage to finish all tasks on time. Would it make any difference if I got a book published prior to 2014? I noticed that the majority of such guides were released in 2011 or 2009. I hope there haven’t been that many changes implemented in the Subject tests over the past few years?

There have been no meaningful updates to the SAT subject tests. New editions are, IMO, a scam by the publishers to get more $$. Older editions are fine.

Thanks again for your help!

P.S. - I know this probably isn’t the right place to ask but I still hope it’ll be alright to mention it here instead of creating a new topic. Since we were talking about older editions of guides etc. I noticed that the “The Official SAT Study Guide Second Edition” by the College board from 2009 (?!) has been №1 best seller on Amazon and students who sat the exam earlier this year have also shared some feedback. My question is, since there have been major changes in the SAT I exam for 2016, should I buy the 2009 edition or should I instead go for Kaplan’s guide for 2016? Or perhaps get both?

Are you a rising junior?

I guess? I’m not sure what that is since I’m an international student and I’m afraid I’m not familiar with the US’ high school terms. I’m graduating in the spring of 2017, if that’ll help.
