You're probably not going to do well with only 2 full years of French under your belt. Generally speaking, a 700 is equivalent to a 5 on the AP test -- you're still 3 years from taking the AP test (if you were on the traditional schedule) and only about 10 percent of those people get 5s.

It's up to you what kind of score you want for SAT II's. I'd only recommend taking French if you're most prepared for it, but I guess it's too late now.

And yeah. Memorize AS MUCH vocab as possible.

By the way, in general, a score of 700+ is considered very good.

at my school, i'm only 1 year away from taking French AP. Basically, the 3rd year of french is the last year where you learn new concepts. 4th year is just a review of everything from the past 3 years.

I spent 2 weeks learning everything we need to learn in 3rd year. I didn't do terribly bad on the practice test from PR, but... I know it's A LOT easier than the actual test.

I think I'm capable of getting 650 on the SAT II... but I'm going to aim for a 700

I took the French SAT II in October, and got a 600, which was disappointing. I'm in my 5th year of French (AP), and have always done really well. I didn't prepare much for it, just because of a lack of time, but even so, it was just a very difficult test. i don't remember verb tenses being so much an issue as the reading comprehension. i definitely wouldn't have done well with only 2 years of french under my belt..the test is pretty much intended for fluent, even native speakers. good luck!

Hey, you should consider the Rassias Immersions for students. I know that they are doing some at Greenwich Academy in CT in March. Amazing what kids say who have gone through it. I think you can find out at Greenwich Academy but Rassias has a website too www.rassiasgroup.com
