Okay--seriously, what's the story here? I've taken three years of French (in the process of a fourth). I'll admit that I didn't study much for this test when I took it at the end of last year. I did take one practice test (Princeton Review), I got a 650, so I reviewed a couple things, brushed up on my vocabulary left and it at that. When I took the test, I got a 580(!?)
I'm not sure whether I bubbled in the wrong column or just choked or what. I've taken the IB SL French test (6). I've also taken a couple practice tests, since I'm planning on retaking it. My scores on the practice tests have been 730, 700 and 760. The thing is, I'm afraid that my practice books are just too easy or something (I've been using Princeton Review and Baron's). Has anyone else noticed this? Those of you who've done well on it, how did you prepare?

This is what I did: I took the practice exam in the Real SAT II's book, and the two practice exams in the Princeton Review book. Then I went through every single word in all three tests that I didn't know, and wrote down the definition on a piece of paper. This added several hundred new words to my vocabulary. If you need to brush up on grammar, do that too, but I definitely think that the hardest part of the test is vocabulary, simply because it tests more words than anyone could be expected to know. I got a 780. Good luck.

Hmm - I'm new, so I'm sorry if this has already been mentioned, but seeing as this thread seemed to be about the same thing:

SAT II french with listening. You guys might be talking about the SAT II French (not with listening) but incidentally, do you know of any helpful test prep books for the listening test?

So far, they all seem to be for French without listening. Except for the one in the 'Real SAT Subject tests' book, I don't know where else to study from. I might buy the Princeton 2005-06 French SAT II Subject Test book - but I can't find anything else. Any ideas would be hugely appreciated! Thanks!

The Barron's book is supposed to have a practice CD. I bought it used, and mine doesn't, and on Amazon some people reported that the CD was faulty, but it might be worth checking out. I'm not taking the listening test, though, so that's all the help I can offer.
