Hi,
I'm in data management at my high school in Canada. SAT scores and GPA systems are not very familiar to us. Our culminating project is to create a thesis question and develop a study with data points. I need everyone to help me, if you are comfortable giving some general information on your GPA and SAT scores.
I am researching to see if there is a relationship between SAT scores and grade point averages. I know there are many discussions regarding this issue, but I'm not too familiar with it all so I thought I'd conduct my own survey to reach a conclusion.
The information I am looking for are:
1. Gender
2. SAT1 score (The NEW SAT and the overall score plus the individual sections)
3. GPA on a non-weighted scale
4. How long you studied for the SATs (independent or class studying)
5. Did you get an opportunity to prepare within your high school?

I am looking for current high school seniors only.
Thank you!

^ I don't think Im too above average...ill bring the average down then =)

There is no help from my high school.

Ok, I'm studying under the British curriculum so not really US high school, but might be similar to what you have in Canada.
1) Male (does this make much difference? =P)
2) Cr 800 M 740 W650
3) B/C average transcript A average GCSE/ A/S exams
4) Not much...I took it twice so I was more familiarised with it the second time round.
5) Well my high school passes out Kaplan leaflets if that counts? And there're plenty of guides lying around the common room that other people bring in..

1) Male
2) CR700, M800, W730 = 2230
3) 3.8UW
4) 2 hours? Independent.
5) High school offers (paid) SAT classes, but I didn't take them

Christalena, you're still well above average ^^ Maybe not above CC average, but you're well above the average US high schooler!

And I agree that your sampling is going to be really skewed 'cause practically everybody who posts here is really nerdy and spends half his time navigating the CC forums ;-)

Also, I think you should ask for weighted GPA as well... One person can take all regular classes and get a 4.0, where if he took all AP classes, his UW GPA might be more like, 3.2... Adding the weighted classes levels the playing field in that sense
