SAT Grammar Question

Which is the best version of the underlined portion ofsentence3 (reproducedbelow)?
(He attended school in Switzerland. where he) cultivated a love of poetry and art-the Constructivist-inspired Concrete Art style espoused by Swiss artist Max Bill-and became known for his graphic work in prints and art books.

(A) (As it is now)
(B) Attending school in Switzerland, where he
© At school in Switzerland, where he
(D) Having attended school in Switzerland, he
(E) He attended school in Switzerland ,he

I get that the answer is none of the choices B, C and E
But i can’t choose one between A and D
Please help with an explanation

This is why you don’t use Kaplan for SAT prep…you get questions like this.

But I would say the answer is A. A is clear, concise, and a natural way of writing. “Where” correctly follows a place––Switzerland. There’s nothing grammatically wrong about answer A, so at this point, I’d be hesitant to pick something else. B,C, and E are all obviously wrong. Answer choice D is awkward. “Having attended…” doesn’t flow well. It makes it seem as if this individual did all these things solely because he studied in Switzerland, which isn’t what the sentence wants to say. Simply put, D changes the meaning of the sentence slightly.

I would actually pick option (F) –– stick with official SAT material.

@golfcashoahu Thanks for the advice. Will do

OP, as you clearly recognize, you were given very good advice

OP, if that period is in the original, it is not correct, and A is not the best answer. If you mistyped it, and it is really a comma, then A is the best answer.
