First time taking the SAT, and I'm 750R/800M/670W

Now, on mocks I usually get 750+ on W, but I supposed the 8 (EIGHT?) on my essay killed my score somewhat.

However, I took a second look at the score report for my Dec. 3 test and noticed something strange. It says I've omitted answers to all three "difficult" questions in the writing section. I never omit answers though...

So I'm not sure if I forgot to bubble/smudged/mis-erased something. It does seem rather weird that I omitted only the difficult questions. Are they organized together?

Should I pay the $55 to get it hand scored?

Well, your situation is actually weird. I would have it hand-scored if I thought I didn’t omit any question but suddenly discover the report says I omitted 3… Keep in mind, though, that the essay is NOT rescored, so don’t expect this “8” to change.

If you know for sure that you didn’t omit any, then I would get it hand scored. Those three questions could make a major difference in your score.

kwudude, is it not possible that you may have not shaded in the circle sufficiently, that the machine wasn’t able to read it? I’m telling you this because the probability of the machine making an error is near 0. Not only is your answer sheet marked by a machine, but it is also marked multiple times to ensure no errors have taken place. My advice to you is to move on, and be satisfied with your current scores or retake the SAT.
