geez. i hate this

was this a very stupid question that this is not even worthy to answer…

Not really, I have sort of the same question. I got 1380/1600 and 2050/2400. I think the only answers we would recieve are something like: “It will hurt you, but won’t close the doors, if you write super essays, and show a fantastic personality with good ECs, you might have a shot,” or for me, it is more like, “But you’re Asian! Hahaha…”

but any other answers from other ppl??

Actually, Im kinda in the same situation. But, if you’ve already applied under ED, I don’t really think you need to worry about that. Instead, if you do think it’s a reach, you may just get yourself started with essays required by other universities–that’s what we should do, man. To tell the truth, I’m gonna just leave that alone and start my apps for other schools.

Good luck to you!

If SAT scores were the only factor in admission, you don’t have a great chance. However, this is UPenn, and your entire application is considered.

Calm down,

I recall that last year Penn seemed to be lenient on the low SATs (this is for the ED pool).

i just want to point out that all of those accepted with “low” sat scores (i love how on CC a 2050 is low) were generally at the very top of their class

Ummmm, is it possible they also had legacies?

a couple of them maybe but definitely not all of them

The 1900’s are probably URM’s of sorts (?).

AWWWW man, the URM’s in addition to the legacies probably make the bulk, if not ALL of the accepted students with lower SAT scores! Now I feel like complete crap again!

I know for sure that one of the Wharton acceptees (from ED) was an Asian male with 1900ish SAT I scores.
So there’s hope for everyone!

sighs once you get beyond a certain point (I say 1900+ SAT I, 3.8+ GPA), it’s pretty much beyond speculation/control
People with near perfect scores get rejected.

Life’s a crapshoot
Good luck to everyone!

I wonder if he was an underrepresented asian! Hahaha… not to be pessimistic or anything, but it’s very likely. I know for a fact that Vietnamese and Filipino applicants get favored a little bit.

OMG! We totally forgot about the athletes!!!

So, now we have URMs, legacies, and athletes. All three are bringing the SAT range for UPenn down, and so we ordinary people have absolutely no chance unless we have steller SATs. I KNEW IT!

how about koreans? are they wanted in upenn? lol. cause i only have a 2030. but a well rounded 2030. everything was in the same range.

Korean? I’m afraid Korean are over-presented at most top unis. It’s sth you should take pride in, it’s also sth you should worry about.
