SAT I Math vs SAT II Math for Wharton

Hey guys,

I took the November SAT, and as it stands right now, I'm thinking that I'll be getting a 690 in Math (4 wrong), though 800 or near perfect in CR and W. My SAT II Math score was 790. Assuming that my ECs, essay and letters are all excellent, (which personally, I think they are), should I still be applying to ED with a low SAT I math score? Or should I retake, and wait for RD?

Btw, I'm an international student.

Tough question. Your Math II score is amazing! I think I would email your Admissions Rep and ask. That’s what they are there for. :)

Are you asking for financial aid as an international applicant? If so, then I would apply ED since your chances won’t be any better in RD while asking for financial aid. If not, then I think it MAY be worth retaking the SAT and applying RD. Ultimately it’s your choice: if Wharton is your first choice and you believe you portrayed yourself well in your application, don’t hesitate to apply ED.

What I’m hoping for, is that the 790 on the Math II would give admissions the idea that I’m capable of doing the math at Wharton, and that the low SAT I math was just cause of careless errors.

Though, is it possible that the 690 is below the threshold, and that my application will be rejected regardless of ECs, because the math I didn’t meet their requirements?

Btw, my financial aid is need-blind.
