SAT I Reasoning - Consolidated Answer Thread

Please only post your answer if you know with a fair degree of certainty your answer is right! Just label Writing (W), Critical Reading (CR) and Math (M) if you discuss more than one subject in a post.

Who got the CR one about the girl who couldn’t tolerate deviations from the rules? I put punctilious.

Math:

Median range question, answer : m=r
Arc of circle, answer : 10x

Free response:
a^2 < 6, b^2 <12 , answer : 4
Volumes of cone and cylinder: 64/9

CR:
punctilious, quotidan, inhospitable are all valid iirc

volume of the cylinder? radius was r, and it had a height of 9.

area of the bigger circle divided by the area of the smaller circle?

"Math:

Median range question, answer : m=r"

I am pretty sure that answer is wrong. Because the range would be larger if you multiply everything by 4.

do you still remember about a queation in a passage about music that asks the closest word for "territory“. I was confusing between “region” and “subject”.

The answer for the territory question was subject.

subject 4char

THIS ANSWER IS WRONG: a^2 < 6, b^2 <12 , answer : 4

The real answer is 12 because you have to remember about the negatives as well. (ie. -2^2, -1^2, -3^2

yes, EG, but the median is also multiplied by 4, so it’s still m=4.
the question also explicitly stated that a and b were positive integers.

THIS ANSWER IS WRONG: a^2 < 6, b^2 <12 , answer : 4

No, this answer is right. The question asked for POSITIVE INTEGERS, so negatives don’t work. 4 is the answer

was it: (r+4, s-1) or (r+4, s+1)

CR: For the Mrs. Flowers passage, what was the answer to the question that asked how the little girl thought of book before and after it was read to her?

r+4, s+1 4char

thank you :)

Sat: I put mundane, extraordinary for that one but I’m not sure. Also, quotidian or blighted, for that one about that city? I put blighted, mainly because I had no idea what quotidian meant. But now, reading the definitions, I’m not sure

This is a consolidated list of answers. Please do not ask questions here, most of your questions have probably been answered in this post http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/1556086-official-thread-october-sat-2013-test-110.html

Only Answer’s should be posted here

I believe this was the question:
Line k and l are parallel. Line l goes through (-1,-6) and vertex of y=-(x-1)^2+2. Line k goes through (r,s) what other points does line k go through?

My solution:
Line l has a slope of 4. The two points are (-1,-6) and (1,2). m=(2-(-6))/(1-(-1))=8/2=4
They are parallel so line k must also have a slope of 4.
Assume (r,s) is (0,0)
Then, the solution would be (1,4) or (r+1,s+4)

Correct me if I’m wrong.
