Just got my SAT results, and I have to say, I'm somewhat disappointed.
CR 700
M: 750
W: 750 (75/80, essay 9)
Total: 2200

Usually, on my practice tests, I get:
CR: 680 - 740
M: 780-800
W: 800

I've read the blogs about how a 750 is the "same" as an 800, but I'm having trouble believing that an admissions officer would equate a 2400-applicant with a 2250-applicant.

If it makes a difference, I'm an asian male sophomore. My school is pretty competitive, and the average SAT score is:
CR: 668
M: 696
W: 668
Average Total: 2000

If you would feel more confident submitting a higher score, MIT will superscore your tests. You’re also free to use CollegeBoard’s Score Choice to submit tests of your choice when you apply. You can’t hurt yourself by retaking it.

Why are you doing this your sophomore year…? TBH you’re shooting yourself in the foot a little bit, because these scores are going to be on your record when you apply in a couple years (not all schools use score choice). Not that the scores are bad, but if you had waited until the end of next year you’d probably get at least a 2300. I would not recommend taking it any more until May/June of junior year, colleges don’t like it if you take it too many times.

The thing is, I was planning to get ~2300, as I was scoring consistently in the range of 2280 to 2350 on my practice tests. The big reason why I took it this was so I could have an “easier” junior year.

Idk, you definitely have the potential to score higher. I guess since you’ve already prepped a lot you may as well just take it a second time this spring, there’s really no downside to taking it twice. If you wait a year you’ll have to prep all over again, and doing it now will certainly take stress off your junior year. Although my score increased 250 points between sophomore and junior year, since you’ve already prepared you may as well just take it again this year.

why would you waste time on the SATs again?? The score is at par with MIT ranges!! wORK ON YOUR ecs and try to stand out among the crowd<especially if="" your="" international=""> Im from India and im applying with 2050…just so that you know, so be relaxed!</especially>

No, it doesn’t matter. The time you spend pulling yourself up to whatever score you want through superscoring would be better spent doing something MIT Admissions will care about, like research or volunteering or some awesome project that interests you.

IIlIll is a duplicate account created by tbradsworth who does not want to show his face because he has been far too embarrassed. tbradsworth, you were active at 1:01 AM this morning, presumably studying for the SAT. We all know you are here and too ashamed to admit your presence. @PiperXP, thank you for recognizing the fact that I am bringing back posts over a year old. We must continue to embrace the past and accept it as a part of ourselves, and I applaud you for your keen philosophy.

@|||||| @UglyMom Greenbat is merely being honest and considerate. I appreciate that you guys want to be “nice,” but telling someone the cold hard facts is better than lying to their face especially when it comes to college. Calling people “trolls” isn’t going to help tbradsworth in any way.
