Would it negatively impact my chances if I scored lower the second time? My scores dropped 50pts. :(

yeah. cause it shows that you did not imporve

Wow, that's a genious statement.

It depends on where you're applying, what your previous scores were, and how long ago you took your previous scores.

It's well known that very high scores are more likely to go down than up. So if your score dropped from 790 to 740 it would probably not make any difference. But if your score dropped from 600 to 550 the college would probably have some concerns.

ya that's what kind of happened unfortunately. if I improve the next time, will this compensate for the drop?

i also heard that (for private schools), a secretary compiles the highest scores from different sittings so this drop won't impact me as much, but at the uc's for instance, they take the highest from one sitting.. is this true?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Yeah........I heard that too....so the adcoms don't see your lower scores........Hope that happens.........

And U of Cal. looks at the highest total score in one sitting.

bump please

take it a 3rd time, the first time i took the sats i did REALLY bad, then 2nd time my overall improved 40 points, but math went down (this is after i studied haha) 3rd time i took it without studying just for fun and my score improved around 350 points, i havent got a clue how though lol
