SAT I vs SAT II importance

Hello!

I’m an international student applying to several top-tier colleges. The first tests I took were the SAT Subject Tests in June 2015, in Literature and Maths I. I scored a 640 and a 720 respectively. I thought I’d retake them in November (since in October I had to take the SAT I). However, my SAT I scores came in today and I only scored a 660 in CR (2080 composite). I haven’t yet registered for the November session - do you think it would be better to retake the SAT Reasoning, or the Subject Tests (Maths II this time, since I’m scoring around 740, and Literature, where I’m fairly sure I’d get 720+)? I only get to pick one since I’m applying EA and the November test is the last one they accept.

By the way, my SAT I scores are 660 CR, 720 WR (10) and 700 M

I’d take the SAT I every time in your situation. Most schools don’t care about the SAT II all that much - and the ones that do will rarely give a 2080 a second look unless you’re:

A. A recruited athlete
B. A half-black, 1/4-hispanic, 1/4-native american student who worked 2 jobs to support his/her family while maintaining a 4.0 GPA with 15 AP classes and doing some major cancer research on the side; or
C. Malia Obama.
