SAT II --- Admits:700-780

Well on the Princeton Website where they give admssion stats, they say...

What does this mean??? Can someone be kind enough to explain this to me???? I'm freaking out here because I'm (hopefully misinformingly) assuming that the top 25 percent of admits had an average of 780+ on their SAT IIs. Isn't this abnormally high?

That is correct. That means 25% of admitted students had SAT IIs > 780. 25% were below 700.

lolwtomg!

is it the same for SAT I then??? It says...

So the composite score of those who were admitted had an average of 1500+ (a very rough estimate)???

Yeah thats a general rule: around 1500 is you're fine (i.e. it won't help but won't hurt)

so try to get at least a 700 in every catagory? gotcha.

this is very discouraging :(:(:(. so basically, internationals have to get 780+ on their sat iis to have a realistic chance at Princeton with a slight upper hand (in terms of test scores)???

Thats not true at all- (1) grades are more important, and (2) even those with perfect scores won't get in without some special achievements/recognition.

oh sorry-- forgot to elaborate. I'm a homeschooled international and Columbia requires 5 Sat IIs for such students. Perhaps now you can see why I dramatize the whole sat iis thing...

caesar....

My home schooled son was admitted by Columbia last spring with only 4 SAT 2's. If your application is strong enough overall they won't hold it against you.

for clarification.
under that scale, a 680, 700, and 720 would be considered a 700 and 25th percentile correct?
