SAT II Barrons Biology and US History

Can anybody tell me how hard the practice tests are in comparison with the College Board's?

Is there anyone who took a practice test in both there and the REAL SAT IIs book or the actual SAT II Bio or US History?

All help will be appreciated, especially a comparison of scores.

someone told me that barrons are harder than the real test

I'm taking the test's in biology and history as well. I'm a bit apprehensive about them, even more so then my AP tests.

Anyone??? I'm not faring so well on the Barron's practice tests.

Anyone have any ACTUAL College Board practice tests for US History or BIO SAT II or know where i can get one online?

what's so bad about the Barrons? What's a question like? Anything like the AP? I thought most people scored extremely well on the SAT II if they took AP biology?

pentasa, I can't help you with bio, I haven't taken it yet, but I did take the Sat II in US history and I can tell you that the practice tests in Barron's for that particular test were MUCH harder than the actual test. For us history, I found that the tests in sparknotes were the most like those I had on the real test.

Barron's for bio, however, seems too easy so I'm not sure that you can generalize about the practice books by their maker, they seem to vary from test to test.

I'm actually only talking about US History right now. I'll deal with bio 2mrw.

OK thank you for that US History assurance.
I just studied my ass off and I was getting pwned by Barrons SAT II US History. I am gonna do the College Board test tomorrow.

Can I get sparknotes tests online?

I think you need to pay for sparknotes tests; can someone vouche for the biology test--the real one, vs. practice ones?

I'm with you, ivyleague, the sparknotes bio tests did seem kind of easy, not as easy as the barrons, but fairly easy and a breeze compared to the Kaplan tests.
Maybe we should start a new thread where as people take each AP and Sat II they can post for each subject which test book was most like the exam. Think that would be of any use to people?

I definately agree--I'm coming into the SAT II tests like a chicken with its head cut off (a bit grotesque, and a poor analagy nonethless). I mean, I feel confident with my American and Biology AP exams, and just really apprehensive and paranoid about the SAT II's. I hope I do awesome. I know there are people who've scored 800's and high 700's--and just don't feel like answering such a trivial thread--but really, if one of you guys are reading this, please--I'd appreciate all the comments, feedback, and tips I can get.

Wow, I thought I was the only one who felt that way. The Sat IIs have me much more worried that the APs. Eveyone keeps telling me to relax, that the sat IIs are easier, but I'm doing pretty well on the practice APs we've been taking in school, but I'm all over the place on the Sat II's.

I agree. I feel as if since I took the AP Course, my learning was more directed towards that test. Plus with the AP the highest you can get is a 5. With an SAT II, there is so much more score range, and you want to do as well as possible...you see what I'm saying.

I'd like to answer my own thread here. After taking both Bio and US History tests in both Barrons and the CollegeBoard book, I have realized that Barrons is unbelieveably hard.

Barrons Scores: mid 600s
Actual Scores: 750-770

THANK GOD, i though i was completly screwed and was planning on not taking sat 2 us .. damn i was doing bad... :) now i might take it.

I also practiced with Barron's. The only thing I found really difficult was when they named these random organisms and expected you to know all this stuff. For anyone that's taken it is this usually on the test? And are there many diagrams on the test?
