I'm taking APUSH, AP Bio, and AP English, and am planning to take at least the SAT II for US History and Biology (I'm not sure what to take for a third yet). Should I take the SAT II's May 5th, a week before the AP exams, or June 2nd, almost 3 weeks later? Some people say it doesn't really make a difference, so would it be more beneficial to take the SAT II's while I'm concurrently studying for the AP exams anyways, and leave June for the SAT I? I'm not sure if this is true, but some people say the AP exam and SAT II test material to different extents so should I take the AP exams and study all over again for the SAT II's afterwards? Thanks!

I was actually wondering the same thing… I think I’m going to do the sat II history the day after the apush exam in May and then do bio in June. I’m doing it that way because my bio teacher isn’t very good so I want some extra time to self study it, but my apush teacher is amazing so I figure I’ll just do it then before I forget everything. Take a few practice tests and then decide if you’re ready. If you are, take the tests. If you’re not, study for another few weeks.

You can’t do that - the only SAT dates are May 2nd and June 5th, and the APUSH exam is Friday may 11th. Are you planning to take the regular SAT I, though? because if you are then you’ll have to take all of your SAT II’s on one same day (you can’t take SAT I and SAT II on the same day). So I’m trying to decide which month to take the SAT I and which month to take the SAT II’s?

I took them in May last year. It was the weekend between APs. I recommend it so you only have to study once

Oh I hasn’t realized that. Last year it was the weekend in between (as talkthattalk said).

I took the SAT in December. I’m retaking in March. If I’m not happy I’ll take it in the fall of senior year for the last time.

So do you think if I studied for the AP exam and just took a few SAT practice tests I’d be prepared enough for the SAT II? I really just want to get them over with instead of dragging along another 3 weeks of re-studying.

It depends. The curves are better for the AP exams, so what I would do is study for them both (the questions are easier on the SAT IIs) and then they should carry over for each other. I know for apush direct hits had a book designed to prep for both the AP and SAT II but it’s out of print. Hopefully they come out with another one!

Since SATII scoring is more precise, AP -> SATII seems to be a logical way of going about it.

Im taking APUSH right now, and a lot of my friends are taking AP Bio. All the teachers recommend to take the May SAT subjec test.

I mean I don’t think there’s any specific material that the SAT II would test on which the AP wouldn’t, so it’d make sense that studying for the AP would be more than enough for the SAT II right
