I am planning on taking the SAT II biology exam on MAY 5, about 19 days from the day I am posting this. The reason I am taking this exam is because I am in AP biology right now and I thought that as the course is nearing its end, it would be a wise idea to take a subject test regarding the same matter. Spring break ended for me last week and I have finished almost half of my AP test prep book (the Cliffs note book which I read online that it's also good for SAT II subject studying). However, I was thinking about Barron's and one girl strongly reccommended that I use the Cliffs as a side reference and study Barron's. My mom will buy the book for me tommorow, and I calculated that to finish my 260 page review in that book, I must read 17-18 pages on an average each day (which I think is pretty do-able).

Please answer my questions

Do you think reviewing from Cliff Notes will help (since I spent a lot more time studying from that?)
Does taking the AP class prior to the exam help also?
If you have taken the exam, please tell me how you felt about it.

I really appreciate your honest answers.
Thank you very much!

Taking AP definitely does help with the SAT II.
Unlike other exams, like say, SAT II Chem, the SAT II bio is not significantly easier than its AP counterpart. You need to know a lot of facts. The AP is harder because it is a bit more in depth and there are essays.

Anyway, I personally used Kaplan to study for sat II bio, and I thought it was very helpful (some people say it's got too much information, and that may be true, but I thought it was fine).

Make sure you know whether you want to take the bio-E or bio-M sections also.

You're gonna need alot more than one review book for an 800 on bio. I have been studying for 2 months. I have gone through 17 practice tests, 7 books, and still don't feel prepared to where I need to be for a sure 800.
