SAT II Biology What Is The Best Book?

I am a junior in H.S. and I want to take the Bio SAT II in May, I took NY State Regents Biology and did well on the exam: 91. I did not take AP or honors biology. I was wondering what is the best prep book I should buy. I need a really in depth review book but not too much like a textbook. I was thinking of buying barrons but it had some negative reviews on amazon, I was also thinking about Kaplan but I am not sure. Anyway, if anyone has any comments or suggestions that would be great. :)

I also took the Bio Regents and received a good grade. However, the regents is 1/10 the difficulty of the sat 2, so you might need more than one prep book. I also was not in an honors or ap bio class (there were none) so i know how much you have to learn. Even though you have to learn alot, you do not need Barrons. I reccomend starting with Dummies bio (it introduces the new material much better than everything else) and then move up to princeton review or kaplans.

oh okay thanks :)

dummies is ok

try using barrons and kaplan though they are more informative and kaplan has very good pictures

easily Kaplan

the regents is baby stuff. you should go for Kaplans for over preparation, and maybe Spark notes and Barron's as supplements. After Barron's started talking about vitamins, I stopped reading though...

stick to kaplan or the sparknotes website

Kaplan's is much harder than the real thing. I got ~630 on the Kaplan practice tests, while I got a 740 on the real thing.

but the barrons tests arent realistic

Is Barrons harder or easier?

i think too easy. Any other opinions?

i used the princeton review book and got about 660 on its practice tests. i took the real thing however and got a 750. i think the book prepares you very well, covering just the right amount of information without overdoing it. just make sure if you do score badly on the practice tests, that you again review your weak points of bio.

I should mention that I reviewed using SparkNotes and used Cliffs AP to overview things like hormones.
