At my school, I skipped regular biology in order to take chemistry. Now I am taking AP biology and am wondering if I should take the SAT II. Right now I have a 99 in AP Biology but I'm worried that there's some things in regular biology that AP biology doesn't really covered. What do you guys think?

If you’re doing well in AP biology, then I think it’d be a good idea for you to take the SAT biology subject test. I took AP biology last year and normal biology freshmen year, and I’m pretty sure that there isn’t anything in regular biology that isn’t covered in AP biology. One of my friends took AP biology last year and the SAT biology subject test in November and she said that AP biology was good preparation for the SAT biology subject test. I’d recommend finishing AP biology before taking the SAT subject test.

Yes take it!! I took AP Bio and took the subject test the same week as the AP test and studied for them at the same time (got a 5 on AP and 740 on SAT).

Definitely a good idea to take SAT Bio, but you need to think about which aspect of SAT Bio you want to take. I took AP Bio last year, and I found it very helpful to helpful to study AP Bio and SAT Bio together (as thunder1 had said). The only problem with that is SAT Bio focuses more on broad concepts whereas AP Bio focuses more on the details. Good luck!

Is everything on the SAT Bio covered with the AP curriculum?

Our school uses the Campbell 8th edition. By May, we will have flown through the entire thing. Would you recommend taking the SAT II by only preparing for the AP exam? Is there anything extra we need to study for the SAT II?

SAT II Bio is the craziest subject test imo. It’s highly unpredictable (I even have to answer a question about an eagle’s specific nesting period). SAT II Bio goes broader than AP and has more trivial stuff. But the basics are the same. If you can score a 5 on AP Bio, you’ll most likely score a 730+ on the SAT II Bio.
