i took chemistry last year and this year i did not take ap...can i pull off a 700+ in october even though i dont know much...or should i stay away...
i did not learn much in my honors class and i will be taking ap next year...i guess i can do some reviewing over the summer but im really lazy i just need to take this because its required somewhere i want to go...so please answer that for me...
anyone that has taken sat 2 chem w/o ap please post or pm me...
thanks!!!

Hey pimpa10, I'm taking the SATII Chemistry test soon (on June 4th), so I'll try to get back to you regarding its difficulty. Are you going into a science major? If so, I think you should take the SATII Chemistry. I would suggest buying a prep book and study it over the summer so that your chemistry knowledge wouldn't slip out of your mind. Relax about it... you still got time. :)

Ap's don't really help

The sat ii test doesnt necesarrily test advanced materials, but it tests for really deep understanding of the concepts. I don't notice much difference between those with AP chem and regular. Its just that ppl in AP chem have more time to get the feel for chem.

Anyway, I took chem and did quite well without Ap, but I think you should stay away because you mentioned you don't really know the material and havn't taken it since last year. what I recommend is Math IC or IIC if you are good at math, because math is one of those subject where once you're good at it you can easily pick it back up even if you havnt seen the stuff in a long time

im taking math iic in october also...and i alredy took bio and history...but the program i want requires chem so i need to take it...i dont care if i have to learn it over the summer but i just want to kno if im going against a wall and its impossible or if with some work i can do it...
i would rather go with physics but the program specifically requires chem so im screwed...thanks for the replies and keep posting

Don't worry about it pimpa10. I heard that Barron's (and Princeton) is a good prep book for SATII Chemistry. Best of Luck!

SAT ii chem was only difficult to me cause it was so basic. i took it in may which was a year after i had taken ap chem....to me ap chem was way easier than honors, yeah the higher up subjects the easier it is for me somehow...read sparknotes' book at school when they decided that the entire school needs to spend days studying for the state exit tests....700....not retaking it

Agrophobic,

ap chem helped me get an 800 with no extra prep at all.
it helps a LOT b/c you get a comprehensive familiarity with chemistry.
you are bound for a 750+ if you do well in the class

AP Chem helps a lot. I got an 800 with no extra prep (but, for the first 15 questions, by AP BIO knowledge helped, cause I wouldn't have gotten the compound matching otherwise)

so if i did ap bio and i will have one and a half months of ap chem i should be ok with some self-studying???

AP bio hardly at all helps you...cept that one question on the fertilizer
