SAT II Chem Problem...help

Hi,

I'm not sure if anyone looked at questions 5-9 on the REAL SAT II: Subject Tests book. It's basically a series of reactions and they are asking you to fill in the blanks. Can someone explain those to me? I don't really know what is going on. Sorry, I can't really post it here because it involves a diagram.

Thank you!

I'm assuming you have trouble with (7) and (8). (I got them wrong, too. :) ) (7) is (b) because you need H+ to reduce the Cr:O ratio. (8), well, you need OH- to increase that ratio. I'm not sure if I'm explaining this right. I asked my genius friend and this is what he told me.

so are they all redox reactions?
