What stuff do I need to memorize in terms of descriptive chem, formula's etc...?

I was going through barron's, kaplans, mc graw hill etc and I found some disgusting questions I didn't have any idea about...

I heard that you need to memorize flame test colors for ions?!!

also, how accurate are barron's, kaplan's and mcgraw hill chem books?

i think that some of the barron questions, especially the stoichiometry ones, are completely ridiculous because you need to use a freakin calculator (for a good majority of them) ... and we don't get to use calculators on the actual exam... so yeah.. for those types of questions.. they're not so realistic

Without the stupid questions I'd have a 790 with them: a 700..!

That's right you do need to memorize your flame test colors but to be honest its not very hard. My teacher made us a small list and it helped big time for the AP and I think it will help for the SAT Subject test.

i think barron is actually pretty helpful. even though the scores are curved extremely high for example i took a test n thought i didnt do so well with 12 wrong n 16 omited. which comes out to be a raw score of 64 and i got a 750-720 which i thought was kinda of wierd

^Uh..by my calculations that should be a raw score of 54.

TangyTart, would you like to post the small list your teacher made?

Thanks!

i wrote a huge list of stuff to memorize like environmental, metal alloys, gas colors, ox/redox potentials, organic, possible reactions

the small stuff u only can memorize is what i get wrong on the practice tests
i figure ill just try to get down as much as possible a few days before the test
