SAT II Chemistry thread

Also what'd everyone get for the one when you lower a solid from above its freezing point to below the freezing point.,....what would the temperature vs. time graph look like?

it was A i think... with a constant temp for a breif amount of time.

There was a question about water displacement to get a chemical or something. the choices were NH4, H2, and O2. i wasn't sure, but i put just NH4. is this right?

3 was sumthin like which ion has d-filled orbitals filled-only bromine satisfied that

overall test was prolly not bad (thinkin harsh curve cuz all geniuses that take the test)
matchin were tricky if you didnt pay close attention adn went fast like me

For TTCE section:
i remember first one was enzyem TF
another one near the end was like generaly temp increases reaction because the kinetic molecular energy of molecules exceeds the activitation energy (something like that i dunno exactly) I put T, T, CE anyone elese know?

I thought this test sucked @$$... I took the test in PR and got a 750 with answering all questions in the hour i gave myself and when i took the test i skipped like 6 or something. Hopefullly this test gives out a good curve... or else ill drop it right now... how do u do that anyways?

No question number

Least likely to use for titrations: crucible
pH of NaCl: 7
Le Chatelier's principle: A, since rxn endothermic
Evolves gas (picture with setup): H2 and O2, not NH3
Mn oxidation num = 2+: II and III only
Oxide XO O is 64% by mass.: X = 9 grams (A)
Isotopes: all change except atomic #/# protons
Atmoic radii increase down a group
MconcVconc = MdilVdil: answer was 0.5 or something
MacidVacid = MbaseVbase: If you used the formula, you got the right ans
Not true about equilibrium: All rxn stops
H2 highest rate of effusion

i think Cs is the lowest ion energy. It has the biggest tomic radius, so it is easier to lose an electron.

Na+ cant have a higher radius because it has lost an electron, so the radius is less

You add acid to water, not water to acid b/c the heat can cause it to splatter, and it's better to have water splattering on you than conc. acid. Cl2 has a very strong odor I believe and is corrosive to tissue. It was used by the germans in WWI. I put the NH3 as the one w/ the perceptible odor (it said perceptible, not faint). I hate to say it but I think this test crushed me. I just hope there's a killer curve.

yea..all i want is 620+(hopefully 650)

Anyone remember any more questions?

What's the approximate score conversion? -6 = 800? What's the cutoff for a 700?

On the T/F section, are the points given all or none? i.e. if an answer is T/T/CE you receive no credit for putting T/T/no CE?

Student, for the matching, CH3OH is not a weak acid since it's ethanol(an alcohol). Everything else, I put what you got although I can't remember what I put for 2-3 questions you posted.

I'm planning on taking the Chem test later this year, I have the Barron's book. Is it seriously 85 questions? And what's with the #102-116? I don't get it.

they are part of the 85 questions. The test in Kaplan has a -6 = 800 cutoff.

what is the 700 cutoff, and 650 cutoff?

61 is the cutoff for 700 and 55 is the cutoff for 650.

The barrons book sucks; it has errors in it. A couple of the questions on the practice test didn't have the right answer, and their explanation was flawed(I knew what I was doing on these, don't know what others may have been incorrect as well).

hmm. so i can miss around 20 and get a 700...not bad

u guys need to calm down... curve is crazy generous... i missed maybe 9 and omitted 2 and i got a 740
