<p>I don’t quite agree with the perception that people with parents who speak Chinese should not take the test.</p>
<p>For me, I immigrated to the west when I was very young, and I learned how to read the language on my own. Despite the fact that my parents DO speak, I put in a lot of effort to maintain my cultural ties. Does this mean that I shouldn’t take the mandarin SAT II to prove myself? I think not.</p>
