SAT II: Chinese...

I'm not Chinese, but I lived in China for two years(I'm not living there right now though), so I'm pretty sure I can get a good score(for sure over 700). BUT big problem here. I heard a perfect score is on the fifty-something percentile..(wat the...)
Everyone says you shouldn't take it if there is no guarantee that you'll get an 800.
If I study hard, I'll probably get a score very close to 800.
But it wouldn't be easy-peasy for me as it is for the native speakers, so out of the whole bunch of questions(my lord there are many), I'd probably make a couple of mistakes.
So the question is...
-will universities consider that I am not a native speaker of Chinese and count a 700+ as a good score?

Oh by the way, is there absolutely NO prep material for Chinese?
It always helps to get used to the format.
If there is any, or helps a lot for the test, please tell me!

Thanks!

Yes, the universities will definitely consider a 700+ as a good score for a foreigner, regardless of the percentile. But I would be wary of whether you can get a 700 something unless you studied rigorously while you were in China. I have a lot of friends who are white and have taken Chinese for 4+ years, and I'm not sure if they could get above a 700+ on this ridiculous test. The curve for this test is, I believe, the hardest of any SAT II test. If you are sure you can get a 700+, by all means, take it! It will be much more impressive than a high SAT II score in, say, French or Spanish.

a lot of natives take it, even more so than the other langauge tests, but a score of 700+ would be very respectable for a non-fluent person

I tried some sample questions, and didn't find them too difficult.
If it just wasn't for the disgusting curve...

Anyway, thanks for your replies!

yes you should take it. Since you aren't chinese, you wouldn't be looked upon as terrible even if your percent's lower than normal. Just get 700+ and you should be fine.
