A friend of mine recently took the SAT II's and scored 570 on Biology, 700 on math 2C. He was wondering whether these scores were worth sending to UVA and USC, or whether he should retake them. What do you guys think?

Probably The biology the math is ok

Do you really think it's necessary to retake? For both these colleges, SAT II scores are only "recommended", not "required"... what effect would it have on my chances if
1) I don't send SAT II scores
2) I send my current scores
3) I retake, get mid-high 600's on bio, and send those

What is the best course of action?

I wouldn't send or retake if your other test scores are good (at 75% of admitted students at the two schools).

You can't not send SAT II scores. They're on the same report as the SAT I.

A 570 isn't very competitive - especially for UVA (and USC if you mean Southern California). A 700 isn't very competitive for IIC.

If you're expecting a sub-700 score on bio, I'd recommend taking a different test that you could do better on.

If you take them after the SATI, how will they know your scores?

When you send the score report, the SAT I and SAT II scores are sent together.
