Did anyone take that test today? Did you think it was easy or hard? How do you think the curve would look like?

i don't think it was terribly difficult. i don't think the curves on latin are ever that generous, but i honestly have no idea.. the first couple of sections were fine, and also the last two. the third to last passage killed me though, the one about caesar's funeral..

any particular questions you found hard?

The one about caesar's funeral was definitely very hard. I skipped 2 questions just on that passage. Also did you get the one that asked for the meaning of "quam hostes?" Also the question from the passage about rhetorics where it asked for the contextual translation of the ablative absolute, did you say it acted like an if...then statement?
The first half of the test was easy. But I'm still thinking if I should cancel my score because I skipped 4 questions and already know that I got like 4 of them wrong.

how many elisions were there in that one question?

there was only 1

Wow, strange. When I took this test there were tons of people taking it with me. Our area must be strange. I guess December's not a Latin month.

:)
:p
;)
:D
:o
:(

What's the curve like for this test?

I'm so happy. I taught myself Latin and the ellision question aside, I don't think I missed a single beat.

Haha. I got my butt kicked on the December test!

It was very serious skewering. I was pwned.

Our marching band came back around 3 AM from an away football game. I went home, showered, studied a little, went to sleep, woke up, ate breakfast, and then took the test around 8 AM.

I saw the test and I freaked out because the things that I didn't study were there. I freaked out so much that I forgot to read the directions.

The test kicked my butt around the world. twice.

I still don't know what my score will come out as. I'm going to guess that a lot of people did well on it. I think I will get between 600~700 but not over a 750. If I got a 750, I'd be very happy.

hmm, good luck everyone! I took it also... haha, guessed on about 85% of the test... we'll see how I did...

How many years have you guys been taking Latin?

This would be my second.

The curve for Latin isn't too bad.

Raw score = Scaled score

66-74 = 800
60-65 = 750-790
55-59 = 720-740
50-54 = 680-710
45-49 = 650-670
40-44 = 610-640
30-39 = 540-600
20-29 = 480-540
10-19 = 430-480
0-9 = 390-430
<0 = 270-380

This would be my fourth year... yet I thought that test was hard.

6 or 7 years for me

A little less than a year teaching myself.

770

very content

to study for it I used the REA (?) book by DePalma

and I took Latin for four years.
