SAT II Latin?

I'm a high school senior who signed up for the SAT II Latin in June hoping to be able to place out of my college's language requirement. I was thinking I could buy a prep book, cram for a few nights, and get the 650 or so that I needed.

Unfortunately, there is next to no prep material for SAT II Latin. I saw one book on Amazon that got horrible reviews (for having incorrect answers to questions, among other things).

What do you guys recommend? I'll get a copy of Real SAT IIs from the library and do that, but is there anything else? Would an AP Latin prep book work? What are my chances of guessing my way to a 650 :-P

there arent any prep books for latin as far as i know considering that its not that popular of an AP class/SAT II test for testing agencies to prep.

if u're taking an AP Latin class it helps.

i took Latin last year on june and got a 720.

I've taken four years of latin... but I'm really rough on grammar/vocab. My teacher focuses more on Roman culture (which is totally awesome, just doesn't help much with SAT II).

If REA comes out with this in time, I will love them forever; if not, I will send curses on them and may Zeus and the Gods Above forever send down vultures on them to pluck their small intestines.

Unfortunately, I'm taking the June test too, and "May 2005" isn't specific enough of a release date. Anyone know anything about this book?

test isnt that bad.

i do good on translations when there is M.C.
i thought the test wasnt that bad

I sent the REA people an email asking when it'd come out. We'll see.

They'd better reply soon, eh? =p

Got a note back... book isn't coming out until December '05, so no luck for us.

That stinks...Amazon lied.

Update:

I didn't study at ALL. I hadn't been in class for a month (internship), and I hadn't worked in latin class for years.

I needed a 600 to pass out of language. I got a 600. w00t

puer puellae rosam dat! see!!! i would so own the sat II latin! NOT! yay

If you look over all the grammar you have learned, you should be fine. It is completely a grammar/translation intensive test, so if you have been taking AP tests, they are very similar (except the SAT II is easier). An AP Latin Prep book would definitely work, just concentrate on the grammar section. Know all declensions/conjugations, participles, infinitives, case uses, figures of speech, etc. There are also basic derivatives on there as well, but most of those are common sense. I think the curve is fairly generous. Point is you do not need a SAT II Latin prep book, just memorize your way through the grammar/vocab. I took half of the test in 10 Real and pulled a 780.

The SAT II is much easier. I've looked at sample AP tests in Latin literature and immediately realized how futile our complaining on the SAT I essay has been. It was like, read a passage in latin, analyze, and write a long, detailed essay on it. And again. And again. And again.

There are AP Latin prep books?

Yeah, I saw a sample AP test and I was like "WHOA... NOT HAPPENING FOR ME!" so I guess just a lot of work over the next year... any advice from this year's AP Latin Litters? Or any AP Latin review books?
