SAT II Lit vs CR?

Hi,

Would a high SAT II Lit score compensate for a low SAT I Critical Reading score?

Thanks for any feedback!

Well, Literature is often referred to as a more difficult version of Critical Reading, but this comparison is fairly simplified, as they test different things. If you have a low CR score, a higher Lit score would certainly look better than a lower Lit score, but it really depends on the specific numbers and your goals.

I took both reasoning & lit.

CR = more straightforward, more modern literature, scientific pieces, opinion pieces, comparative pieces, not a lot-but some fiction | vocab-in-context, identify thesis/basic message/purpose/tone

Lit = most of it is pre 1900 material, old english novel excerpts, POETRY | identify meaning of metaphors, similes, etc. & their significance, a few more questions on form (e.g. iambic pentamer)
